Report reveals Government could meet 94% of its housing target just by building on available brownfield land

"There's absolutely no need for the Government to bulldoze over our precious greenbelt" Bradley has said after a report found there is enough brownfield land capacity in England to support a minimum of 1.41 million new homes.

According to the latest "State of Brownfield 2025" report from The Campaign to Protect Rural England, there is enough brownfield land capacity in England to support a minimum of 1.41 million new homes, of which 55% already have full or in-principle planning permission.

These figures reveal that the Government could meet 94% of its 1.5 million new homes target just by building on brownfield alone.

And according to Action on Empty Homes, there are also more than 1 million empty homes in England that could be brought back into use.

The local MP has launched a Parliamentary petition that demands the Government builds houses on brownfield land first and brings empty homes back into use as he continues the fight to protect Bromsgrove and the Village’s greenbelt.

Bradley believes that, if the Government builds houses on brownfield land first and brings empty properties back into use, the 85% increase in Bromsgrove and the Villages’ housing target could be reversed, saving the greenbelt and protecting the constituency from excessive development.

Bradley said:

"The facts speak for themselves.

"There's absolutely no need for the Government to bulldoze over our precious greenbelt.

"Couple brownfield land availability with the more than 1 million long-term empty homes and the Government can meet its housing target and more!

"If you you support my common-sense brownfield first and bring empty homes back into use housing policy, then please do sign my Parliamentary petition."

Save Our Greenbelt!

Ever since I was first elected I have been fighting to protect the greenbelt.I responded to the Government’s consultation and highlighted the flawed formula used which resulted in an 85% increase in Bromsgrove’s target.I ramped up my efforts to protect the greenbelt by launching a Parliamentary peti

Protecting Our Greenbelt

Ever since I was first elected, I have been fighting to protect our precious greenbelt. Our area is 89% greenbelt and the countryside underpins our identity.I will only support development in the right locations, designed to the highest standards and on brownfield land first.
