Bradley is urging residents to have their say on major Government reforms to merge police forces across England and Wales.
Earlier this year, the Government announced that an independent review into proposals to merge police forces across England and Wales would be carried out, which could see the existing structure of 43 police forces reduce to 12 – the biggest shake up to policing in more than six decades.
These proposals weren’t in the Government’s manifesto in the General Election.
Lord Bernard Hogan-Howe has been appointed to lead the Independent Review of Police Force Structures. It’s expected his recommendations will be given to the Home Secretary by summer.
Bradley has now launched a survey on his website to gather residents’ views on the major reforms to policing.
Bradley said:
“I’m deeply concerned about these proposals and what they could mean for policing in Bromsgrove and the Villages.
“As a rural constituency, I fear West Mercia Police being merged with West Midlands Police would not bring any benefits to our area. Birmingham would completely drain the police of their resources, leaving us with the scraps. We would be left less safe, a situation I cannot accept.
“To help guide my work as I continue to hold the Government to account, I’m urging residents to have their say on these major proposals. Please have your say by heading to my website and completing my survey.”
