One Worcestershire council will "provide the best possible services" Bradley has said.
The Government is imposing local council reform on Worcestershire. This means all six of Worcestershire's District Councils, along with the County Council, will be abolished. In it's place either one Worcestershire unitary council will be formed or two unitary councils will be created: one in the north and one in the south of the County.
The unitary council will provide all council services. This should streamline services, reduce waste and duplication and ultimately save council taxpayers’ money.
As council reorganisation plays out in the coming months and years, Bradley is fighting to keep our county together as One Worcestershire, delivering excellent services, at excellent value.
Bradley said:
"The Government is planning to abolish our County and District Councils to replace them with single area unitary councils, with the BBC reporting that “splitting county areas into unitary councils with populations as small as 300,000 will create hundreds of millions of new unsustainable costs for local taxpayers."
"I believe that One Worcestershire council would provide the best possible services, at best value to the taxpayer and help to prevent us from becoming an extension of Birmingham under the Government’s plans for new regional mayors."
