Bradley is seeking answers from the owners of TG Jones regarding the future of their store in Bromsgrove.
It follows the High Court’s recent decision to approve Modella Capital’s restructuring plan for the retail chain to stave off insolvency. This plan involves shutting down around 150 of its 480 stores nationwide and cutting rents across remaining locations.
In a letter to the Managing Director of Modella Capital, Joseph Price, Bradley asked him to confirm whether or not the TG Jones store on Bromsgrove High Street is one of the 150 stores that will be closed.
The TG Jones store on Bromsgrove High Street is home to the Post Office, and earlier this year Bradley and local residents were successful in saving it from closure.
Bradley said:
“It’s difficult out there right now for retail businesses, especially with rising costs and tax rises. That’s exactly why I voted to scrap business rates for thousands of high street businesses.
“Losing TG Jones would be a massive blow to our High Street. We all fought so hard to save the Post Office, which undoubtedly increases footfall at TG Jones’ store.
“I’ve therefore asked the Managing Director of Modella Capital to confirm whether or not our TG Jones’ store in Bromsgrove is earmarked for closure. I will of course share any response I receive.”
