In an unprecedented move, Labour scrapped the Conservative Party’s vote to force Andy Burnham to come to Parliament to answer questions when he becomes Prime Minister on Monday. Labour could not bear the idea of a new Prime Minister facing any scrutiny before September. Andy Burnham has bottled it.
People across this country will see what has happened, and they will conclude that Andy Burnham is running scared of public scrutiny before he can even take office. Bottler Burnham knows the honeymoon will be over the minute he has to tell us his plans.
Andy Burnham’s premiership looks set to repeat all the same mistakes that destroyed Labour’s economic credibility over the last two years. The Conservatives are the only Party with a plan to build a stronger economy and a stronger country. A plan to cut welfare and boost defence to keep the country safe, a cheap power plan for cheaper energy, and a borders plan to end illegal migration.
