The Government is imposing local council reform on Worcestershire.
This means all six of Worcestershire's District Councils, along with the County Council, will be abolished. In it's place either one Worcestershire unitary council will be formed or two unitary councils will be created: one in the north and one in the south of the County.
The unitary council will provide all council services. This should streamline services, reduce waste and duplication and ultimately save council taxpayers’ money.
As council reorganisation plays out in the coming months and years, I’ll be fighting to keep our county together as One Worcestershire, delivering excellent services, at excellent value.
Worcestershire has a distinct identity, and it would be a travesty to see our historic county split in two.
