Improving Local Transport and Road Safety

We rely on good local transport every day.

As your MP, I will prioritise new investment to reduce congestion and to make local roads safer, particularly through villages.

New investment must improve transport links, which is why I've been holding Worcestershire County Council to account over their A38 BREP Scheme to ensure it delivers on the promises made.

I will also campaign for improved access at rural stations and a wider roll out of Worcestershire on Demand, the responsive transport system that's reducing isolation.

So far I have successfully lobbied the Government to continue backing the Midlands Rail Hub. The Midlands Rail Hub will allow for an additional Cross City train to run each hour to and from Bromsgrove, giving a regular three trains per hour from Bromsgrove into Birmingham. Barnt Green and Alvechurch will benefit from the proposals too. They'll benefit from an additional Cross City service to and from Redditch, which the Midlands Rail Hub provides extra capacity for.

One of the very first issues that was brought to my attention when I was first elected was the need for lifts at Barnt Green Railway Station. I'm pleased this work started in 2025. Three new lifts, as well as new customer help points, have been installed as part of the £7.5 million project.
